Short Film: DUST ( by Thanasis Tsimpinis )

A short movie by Thanasis Tsimpinis , a young and talented director from Greece . His new movie ''Dust'' is about family bandages and reflects  obvious references on the Archetype of Mother . The director acrobats between the  real and cold reality of the Mother and the cruel but at the same time innocent, dreamworld of the Daughter.

Α strange adulthood  game .

''Dust'' won a  Honorable Mention at 19th Athens International Film Festival .

Thanasis Tsimpinis is also the director of '' Keep Shelly In Athens''  (band)  , music video ''Our Own Dream'' that was selected as one of the best videos of 2012 here on Dreamfacto blog .

Movie's soundtrack  by the amazing album ''Sheer''  from  the Swans  band .'' Sheer'' is one the best albums of 2012 in experimental rock music.

Στην πόλη πραγματοποιείται το καθιερωμένο  Φεστιβάλ ντοκυμαντέρ . Σήμερα με μεγάλη μου χαρά πήγα να παρακολουθήσω μια ξεχωριστή ταινία , η ταινία αυτή λοιπόν είχε τον τίτλο Anaparastasis : H ζωή και το έργο του Γιάννη Χρήστου .

Λίγα λόγια για την ταινία . Ο Γιάννης Χρήστου ήταν ένας σύγχρονος μουσικός ,συνθέτης καλλιτέχνης φιλόσοφος και μύστης . Ένας  ιδιαίτερος άνθρωπος  με μια ιδιαίτερη οπτική και μια ιδιαίτερη επίσης διεθνή αναγνώριση . Μια μουσική φιγούρα που άπλωσε την τέχνη και την ενέργεια του ,μελέτησε την ανθρώπινη ύπαρξη και την σύνδεση της ψυχής με την ενέργεια . 



Επηρεασμένος από την μεταφυσική και την ψυχολογία κατάφερε να αφεθεί στο παρόν του και να προσπαθήσει να επικοινωνήσει μέσω την αυθεντικότητας των σκέψεων του με τους συνεργάτες ,το κοινό αλλά και τον ίδιο τον εαυτό του. Ήταν σε αυτά τα χρόνια της δημιουργίας του και ο δάσκαλος αλλά και ο μαθητής .

Η ταινία μας βάζει μέσω της αφήγησης του σκηνοθέτη Κωστή Ζουλιάτη ,κυριολεκτικά μέσα στον κόσμο του Γιάννη Χρήστου και σιγά σιγά μας ξεδιπλώνει ,όλες τις δημιουργικές περιόδους και τα σημαντικότερα έργα του συνθέτη από τα μέσα της δεκαετίας του 1940 έως τα μέσα του 1960 .Παράλληλα μας αφηγείται  μέσω ντοκουμέντων και συνεντεύξεων για τον ίδιο τον συνθέτη την ζωή αλλά και την προσωπικότητα του . Επίσης όσο τα λεπτά περνούν βυθιζόμαστε ακόμη περισσότερο  στον αρχέτυπο, φιλοσοφικό και ονειρικό κόσμο  του συνθέτη ,έχοντας ως βασικό μέσω της έκφρασης του την σύγχρονη μουσική αλλά και  τις πειραματικές  αντί συμβατικές  μετά-μουσικές του εκφράσεις . Φθάνοντας στο τελευταίο του ανεκπλήρωτο πειραματικό – πρωτότυπο –μουσικό έργο ,με αποκορύφωμα κάποιες μικρές λεπτομέρειες για τον τραγικό θάνατο του .

Όσο έβλεπα την ταινία ,ομολογώ ότι δεν ήθελα να τελειώσει , από την μία γιατί ξεδιπλώθηκε μπροστά στα μάτια μου μια τόσο αντισυμβατική φυσιογνωμία  που πραγματικά θα ήθελα πολύ να γνωρίσω και δεύτερον γιατί πραγματικά ακόμη και μέσω της ταινίας ένιωθα αυτήν την ενέργεια που με τόσο μεγάλη λεπτομέρεια έψαχνε να βρει ο συνθέτης στην ζωή του.

Ο μόνος λόγος που γράφω αυτές τις γραμμές εδώ ,είναι πως θέλω πραγματικά το έργο και όλος αυτός ο αέρας της πραγματικής πρωτοπορίας στην τέχνη του να ακουστεί ,γιατί είναι κομμάτι μιας μεγάλης αλήθειας ενός ανθρώπου που θα μπορούσε να φέρει πολλές αλλαγές στην νέα εποχή που θα έρθει και ίσως είναι πιο κοντά από ότι μπορούμε να φανταστούμε .

Tα ανοιχτά μυαλά πάντα θα αξίζουν να πλανιούνται στον αέρα της κάθε πραγματικότητας και του κάθε τόπου και χρόνου!

Ένα ευχαριστώ στον εμπνευστή  και δημιουργό της ταινίας ,Κωστή Ζουλιάτη που τυχαίνει να είναι και ένας από τους αγαπημένους  μου μουσικούς που ανήκουν χρονικά στην γενιά μου και φυσικά σε όσους έκαναν εφικτή αυτήν την εισαγωγή και παρουσίαση στον υπέροχο κόσμο του Γιάννη Χρήστου.

Επίσης τα συγχαρητήρια μου που ήταν εκεί και σήμερα στην δεύτερη προβολή της ταινίας για να συζητήσουν με τον κόσμο !

The Documentary Festival is running in Thessaloniki city this month . Today ,I ‘ve decided with great pleasure to watch one of the movies in this festival . The movie I saw is entitled Anaparastasis :The work and life of Jani Christou . I want to share this experience with you .

Some lines about the movie. 

Janis Chriatou was a contemporary musician of the 20^th century and also a great composer ,artist ,philosopher and myst. A unique man with a special view of life and a great international recognition . A music figure that has spread his own art and energy ,studied about human nature and the main connection between our soul and pure  energy .

 Being  influenced by metaphysics and Carl Jung’s phycology he managed to let himself free in his own present and to try to communicate through his authentic way of thinking with his co-operators ,his crowd and finally with his own internal self. Through all his creative years ,was the teacher and the student of his own reality.

The movie sets us ,through the speaker and director Kosti Zouliati ,just inside the world of Jani Christou and as time passes we can see all the artistic periods of the work of the composer from the middle ‘40’s until the middle 60’s. In parallel ,we can discover through documents and interviews the life and personality of Jani Christou. As time goes by through the film we dive even more through his expression in the philosophic and dream world of the composer. Having contemporary music  as his main tool of expression , Christou  used some experimental  and non-conventional  ways to express his art ,that we now call it  post –music .

Finally the movie reaches to his last uncompleted music composition and his tragic death in Greece ,on a car accident .

As I watched the movie , I confess that I wished  it never ends for two main reasons .First . I wanted to meet  and know more about this great unconventional personality that was unfolded in front of my eyes and Second ,because I truly felt even through a movie, that special energy that this man created inside his art and   everyone was talking about .

The true reason that I am on this lines ,is that I want  for Jani's Christou art and personality to be heard all over the world. It is a piece of the real truth of a human that could have brought  too many changes in the new era that’s comes closer and may not be as far as we imagine.

I really thank the inspirational creator and director of this movie , Kosti Zouliati that is by the way one my favorite musicians that exist in my generation and finally all the people that worked for this movie and I could be guided inside the beautiful world of Jani Christou.

Finally the video - trilogy of M-83 has reached the end .

The 3 videos of the songs '' Midnight city'' , ''Reunion'' , ''Wait''  from their 2012 album
"Hurry up ,We are dreaming " compose a whole story .

The spectacular story of special telepathic kids from another galaxy escaping from their prison-school and trying to communicate with their real home far from earth until they realize that they belong here .

The last video from the song ''Wait '' is ending the story .It is a great piece of art and you should check it out . This is the last point of the visaul collaboration of M 83 and directos Fleur & Manu .

" The whole album carries so many feelings along with a combination of space -electro synth music. I think, one of the best music albums and best visualized albums in 2012 ! "

Fleur and Manu made three art masterpieces combining old space movie aesthetics with modern cinematography styles .

ARNI & KINSKI : the directors of Sigur Ros ,Florence ,Editors and Iggy Pop

Arni & Kinski is the duo of directors  ''hiding'' behind famous and beautiful music videos . They have worked with artists like Florence and the machine , The Editors , Sigur Ros , Beth Orton , Snow Patrol,Iggy Pop.

They are Icelandic (of course) and their work is made of small and beautiful  videos with interesting scenario and cinematography in which you can sense ''human'' and ''earth'' element ,also there is a slight presence of documentary picture in most of their videos.

Arni & Kinski formed a unique music-film collective called GusGus in 1995. GusGus's first venture was a short film, "Pleasure," written and directed by Arni & Kinski
 
 They have also helmed campaings  with Hummer , Toyota , Volvo ,Nissan and other companies .
Recently , started a photography exhibition in New York's gallery , Honey Space , based on coοperation with Sigur Ros frontman , Jonsi .

Oι ΑRNI & KINSKI είναι ένα δίδυμο σκηνοθετών που κρύβεται πίσω απο τα μουσικά βίντεο πολλών και γνωστών καλλιτεχνών όπως αυτό των Florence and the machine , The Editors , Sigur Ros , Beth Orton , Snow Patrol,Iggy Pop.

Eίναι απο την Ισλανδία (φυσικά) και τα βίντεοκλιπ τους πάντα είναι μικρά αριστουργήματα με όμορφο σενάριο ,πολύ όμορφη φωτογραφία και αυτό που φαίνεται αρκετά είναι η παρουσία του ανθρώπινου στοιχείου και η γήινη προσσέγγιση των πραγμάτων ,υπάρχει επίσης και η αίσθηση του ''ντοκουμενταριστικού'' σε πολλές απο τις δουλειές τους . 

Ξεκίνησαν να δουλεύουν στην Ισλανδία απο την μουσικό - κινηματογραφική κολεκτίβα τους με το όνομα Gus - Gus και η πρώτη τους δουλειά ήταν το βίντεο ''Pleasure''

Aπο τότε αν και κρατούσαν χαμηλό προφίλ άρχισαν να κερδίζουν βραβεία για τις δουλειές τους κυρίως στο Reykavic και παράλληλα έκακαν αρκετές διαφημίσεις και ντοκυμαντέρ για την τηλεόραση.

Ταυτόχρονα όμως η μπάντα τους Gus gus έβγαζε συνεχώς νέους επιτυχημένους δίσκους και υπέγραψε συμβόλαιο στην Αγγλία με την Βρετανική εταιρία 4ΑD 

έχουν επίσης καλύψει  τις διαφημιστικές καμπάνιες πολλών εταιριών με αυτοκίνητα όπως Volvo ,Hummer , Nissan , Toyota .

και πρόσφατα ξεκίνησαν μια έκθεση φωτογραφίας στην γκαλερί , Honey Space , της Νέας Υόρκης και το θέμα της αφορά την συνέργασία τους σε μουσικά βίντεο με τον frontman των Sigur Ros , Jonsi !

Your Hand In Mine / music stories

Οι Your Hand in Mine (βλέπε . Explosions In The Sky) είναι δύο  τύποι  από τη Θεσσαλονίκη, ο Μάνος και ο Γιώργος. Το project αυτό ξεκίνησε το 2006 . Η μουσική τους βασίζεται κυρίως στα ακουστικά όργανα και  αυτοσχέδια (παιδικά κυρίως) όργανα και συσκευές , (wurlitzer piano, melodica, toy piano, ukulele , toy synth, mandolin, glockenspiel, zither,)  με επιρροές από την  ευρωπαική κυρίως  folk και την post rock . Οι Your Hand in Mine χρησιμοποιούν τεχνικές  looping και  κυρίως παίζουν μια πολύ όμορφη μουσική δωματίου η οποία σίγουρα χαρακτηρίζεται και ως film music  .

 

 Το 2007, κυκλοφορούν  μόνοι τους (100 κόπιες)  το «Your Hand in Mine EP», έχοντας αφετηρίες στη δυτικοευρωπαϊκή φολκ, αλλά και στον πειραματισμό . Λίγο  καιρό μετά κυκλοφορεί το πρώτο ολοκληρωμένο έργο τους με label από την  Inner Ear το «Every Night Dreams» (μουσική για την «Yogoto no Yume», την ταινία μικρού μήκους του Mikio Naruse), το οποίο παρουσιάζουν ζωντανά στο φεστιβάλ κινηματογράφου Θεσσαλονίκης.

 

  Πριν από λίγο καιρό κυκλοφόρησε και το δεύτερο album τους με τίτλο  ‘ The garden novels’  (Inner Ear)  . Ο  δίσκος αυτός  με λίγα λόγια ακροβατεί ανάμεσα σε σκοτεινά βάλς , παράξενες μελωδίες που είναι και δεν είναι ταραντέλες ("A Boy and the Birds")    

 

 Έχουν αυτό το παράξενο άρωμα του δρόμου και της γειτονιάς που πάντα φέρνει ωραίες αναμνήσεις και αν και ο δίσκος έχει  μια σταθερή δυναμική και δεν ξεφεύγει από τον συνηθισμένο  ήχο , δεν σου αφήνει περιθώρια να ζητήσεις κάτι άλλο . Απλά είναι στο χέρι σου κατά πόσο θα είσαι σε θέση να τον ακολουθήσεις και να μπείς στην ιστορία του και αν θέλεις να τον ‘ξεφυλλίσεις’ ηχητικά.
